What is Sylvester Stallone’s net worth and salary?
An American actor, screenwriter, producer, and director with a $400 million fortune is Sylvester Stallone. Stallone’s films have earned more over $4 billion worldwide as of this writing. Sylvester has written, produced, and/or directed several of his major franchise films, which is unusual for Hollywood celebrities.
Highlights of His Salary
Stallone just had three days to complete the screenplay for “Rocky,” and numerous studios were interested in his idea. United Artists was the front-runner, but they insisted on making it a James Caan or Robert Redford star vehicle. He applied constant pressure on the movie’s producers, Irwin Winkler and Robert Chartoff, to give him a role. He agreed to work on the movie for a cut-rate salary of $23,000.
The current equivalent is roughly $110,000. On a $1 million budget, the movie ended up making $225 million. He received $3.5 million for “First Blood” in 1982. He made $10 million the following year, which is equivalent to $25 million now due to inflation, and received his first Producer credit for the film “Staying Alive.” For “Rhinestone” in 1984, he received $4 million in revenue and his second Producer credit. He received $12 million the next year and another Producer credit for Rocky IV. His additional $12 million from “Over the Top” was earned. He received $16 million for Rambo III. For each of the following movies, Sylvester made $15 or $16 million: Stallone earned $17.5 million for “Daylight”, $20 million for “Driven” and another $20 million for “Eye See You”.
Sylvester Stallone alone made $300 million in base film salary from the 1970s to 2012. His earnings during this time alone were worth nearly $500 million in today’s currency after accounting for inflation.
Early Years
Michael Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone, who would later become Sylvester Stallone, was born in Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen on July 6, 1946. He is the older son of dancer and astrologer Jackie Stallone and hairdresser Francesco “Frank” Stallone Sr., both of Italian descent. Frank Stallone, his younger brother, is also an actor and musician.
Sylvester’s bottom left side of his face was paralyzed due to complications during birthing, giving him his now-famous “snarling” expression and slightly slurred speech. Due to the tumultuous relationship between his parents, Stallone spent some of his formative years in foster care.
Later, the couple got divorced. Prior to enrolling at the University of Miami, Stallone first studied acting at the American College in Switzerland. He traveled to New York City to pursue acting as a career after leaving school before earning his degree.
Career
Stallone says he made “The Party at Kitty,” a softcore adult film, out of desperation after being kicked out of his apartment. It was his first leading role. For his two days of work, he was paid $200. His first few small-scale acting performances in movies were uncredited, and one of them was in Woody Allen’s 1971 picture Bananas.
In 1975, he developed an interest in scripting and, after watching a Muhammad Ali vs. Chuck Wepner fight, was inspired to write a screenplay about a down-and-out criminal who had aspirations to be a professional boxer. According to rumors, Stallone wouldn’t agree to sell the script unless he was the movie’s lead. He fought for the starring role in Rocky Balboa until he was offered it by producers Irwin Winkler and Robert Chartoff.
The movie “Rocky” came out in 1976. With his leading performance, Stallone immediately rose to the A-list and achieved global recognition. A critical and commercial success, the movie received ten Academy Award nominations and grossed $117 million worldwide.
The competition for Best Picture included now-classic movies like Taxi Driver, Network, and All the President’s Men, but Rocky ultimately took home the trophy. Additionally, it won prizes for Best Editing and Best Direction. After the 1979 release of Rocky II, Stallone went on to produce two more successful films in the 1980s.
When Stallone played John Rambo in the action film “Rambo: First Blood” in 1982, the actor launched another critical and commercial success. After the initial movie, three sequels were produced.
He followed a very rigorous training regimen, working out twice a day, six days a week, and adding further activity in the nights to get ready for both of his roles as Rocky and Rambo. For the third Rocky film, he lowered his body fat percentage to an all-time low of 2.8%.
When Stallone featured in “Over the Top,” a box office dud that received mixed reviews, in 1987, his fame started to wane. He released Rocky V in the 1990s, which failed to perform well at the box office. His attempts to produce comedies in the early 1990s resulted in the box office and critical failures of “Oscar” and “Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot.”
Cliffhanger, which made $170 million in the United States, and “Daylight,” both released in 1996, gave Stallone a brief career boost. However, by the early 2000s, he had appeared in a number of box office duds.
After a three-year break, Stallone made a comeback in 2006 with the sixth “Rocky” movie. In the critically acclaimed film “Rocky Balboa,” which cost $24 million to produce but brought in $155.7 million worldwide, he wrote, directed, and starred.
In the fourth film in that series, “Rambo,” he also returned to the character of Rambo. He co-wrote, directed, and starred in the blockbuster “The Expendables” in 2010, which debuted at No. 1 in the box office. In 2012, a sequel was released to similar favorable reviews and a No. 1 box office performance.
A spin-off movie called Creed was introduced to the Rocky series by Sylvester Stallone in 2015. The film was directed by Ryan Coogler and centered on Adonis Creed, who was portrayed by Michael B. Jordan and is the opponent Apollo Creed. Stallone garnered a lot of praise and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Support Actor for the third time.
The 2018 release of Creed 2 received favorable reviews and enjoyed a $35.3 million opening weekend. On September 20, 2019, the fifth Rambo film was released, and it made $91 million worldwide.
Other businesses
In March 2018, Sylvester and Braden Aftergood founded Balboa Productions, a production company for movies. The company has a full production schedule that includes The Expendables 4, Creed II, and Rambo V.
Stallone has contributed vocals to numerous movie soundtracks. For the original Rocky and Rocky IV, he recorded the themes for “Take Me Back” and “Gonna Fly Now.” Along with this, he sang duets with Dolly Parton in their 1984 film “Rhinestone.” Tiger Eye Productions, the name of his company, is a boxing promoter as well.
Individual Life
In 1974, Stallone wed Sasha Czack. Sage Moonblood, who passed away at age 36 from heart illness, and Seargeoh were their two sons. In 1985, Stallone and Czack got divorced. Brigitte Nielson and Stallone were wed from 1985 to 1997. His three daughters are Sophie, Sistine, and Scarlet. He wed Jennifer Flavin in 1997.
Housing Estate
In 1999, Sylvester received $16 for a house in Coconut Grove, Florida.
Sylvester has lived in an extravagant estate in Beverly Park, a posh gated neighborhood at the top of Beverly Hills, as his primary residence for the past few decades. His 3.5-acre property has a 20,000 square foot house on it.
Eddie Murphy, Mark Wahlberg, and Denzel Washington all live nearby. Recent sales of comparable residences ranged from $40 to $70 million. It was revealed in January 2021 that Sylvester was asking an astounding $130 million for this house. He reduced the asking price to $85 million in August 2021.
Sylvester agreed to a $58 million offer in December 2021. Adele was the buyer, and the sum was the most ever paid for a home in Beverly Park.
